We live in C.R.A.Z.Y times. Brexit, COVID-19, US-Iran conflict, US-China trade wars, Oil pricing wars, ultra low interest rates, flat/inverted yield curves, stock markets crashing everywhere in the world, everyone quarantined at home - unable to get out to even meet friends and family. The worst of all - so much death and discomfort because of COVID-19. So, we live in absolutely C.R.A.Z.Y times.
I have been working from home since Mar 11 2020. It has been over a month. To make things more interesting for me, we are expecting a baby in a few weeks time. So, I am feeling - nervous, excited, sad, happy and every other emotion you can think of - all at the same time.
Not commuting to work and being able to manage my work load from home, have given me some spare time. I am spending more of my time reading books, playing my guitar, learning to play GeoShred on iPad, playing on my XBOX, trading stocks, catching up with old friends over Zoom and very rarely watching boring television.
I wanted to do something even more interesting with my spare time. There is a lot of stuff in my head that I have learnt over the years of working in financial services and living/studying/working in 3 different continents. I wanted to provide my brain dump to people who may appreciate learning from my experience. I also wanted to create a platform where others can share their experiences with me, so that I can learn from them. Two way road. And we all have different views of the world.
What better way to cross collaborate and learn than an online portal! So, I started building this website. There are four main sections to this website:
Notes: I have broken out the content here based on how I think the financial services world is easy to understand. If you are looking for a job in the very competitive financial services industry, this section will also offer you the tools and the basic understanding you need to gain a necessary edge over other candidates in the recruiting process. I plan to build a dedicated 'careers' section at a later stage. If you (the reader!) want to contribute to these sections of the website, please do reach out to me!
Quiz: As of when I am writing this post, this section is still under construction. Aim of this section is to allow the users to test their knowledge by taking a quiz! But, for this, I need to build a question bank with verified answers. This is still work in progress. I plan to open this section by the end of the year.
Blog: I wanted to create a space where I can apply some of the concepts from the 'Notes' section on real-life scenarios and examples. I will provide stock tips and investment advise. And I will also use this space to ramble about general stuff and market some of the products that I use. WARNING: I have a lot of stuff in my head! Hopefully, this will provide readers with some interesting content and useful advise.
Members: Readers can register to this website using their Google or Facebook logins or they can register using email. Users can create their profile page, bookmark specific pages/posts, engage with other members of this website through either 1:1 chats or through creating groups and so much more.
Final thoughts for now - I had a lot of fun creating this website. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it. There are many finance education sites out there on the internet. I will provide useful links to resources that I follow. This site is my attempt at not only bringing together all that awesome content that is out there but also to rehash and present the concepts/analysis in a way that I have learnt and understood over the years. Hope you will also find this useful.
